Crime

'You came back here to bury your past...Thing is, you gotta kill it first' Brighton, 1975: a working-class Boston neighbourhood simmering with violence and racial tension. Fifteen-year-old Kevin Pearce has dreams of a life beyond the streets he grew up on. Like so many others, however, he gets caught up in Brighton's undertow and a crime that forces him to flee the city. Twenty-seven years later, Kevin returns to his old neighbourhood after winning the Pulitzer Prize for an article on the wrongful conviction and death of a man from Brighton. But Kevin's past has long shadows - shadows which have taken on a life of their own. And when his prosecutor girlfriend, Lisa, asks his advice on a murder case, he's plunged into a web of deception and bloodshed which will test his loyalties to the limit. Darkly compelling and razor-sharp, Brighton is about the meaning of family, the price of friendship, and survival in a world where one misstep can cost everything.
