Beautiful Bodies

Author(s): Gerald Stone

Australian

In 1833, the Amphitrite, a convict ship bound for Australia, was wrecked in a storm on the coast of France. She carried 102 female prisoners, 12 of their children, along with the captain and crew. Only three people survived. The reaction of the British government was to cover it up. Gerald Stone recreates the voyage and its disastrous end.
